Forsberg Fishing Adventures

As you may know, the Forsberg family does not have a very rich history with fishing.  My father, god bless his soul, use to take us occasionally when we were kids.  We never caught anything.  My Dad would stay in the same spot for about 3 hours and it would make fishing miserable.   When we finally started to move after a period of inactivity (which, I may add, is a commonly practiced fishing activity) we had more luck.  However,  I don't have many fishing pictures as a child.

One time, my Dad took my brother, Matt, and I fishing off the shore in Lake Michigan.  Once we did not catch anything, he stopped at a Jewel food store and bought some fish.  He then proceeded to tell my mom that we caught them and I thought that was pretty funny since she had to have known better.

Anyway, I have a quest to change our fishing legacy.  I have written about other fishing adventures in the Wolf River where, in the first year we had a huge number of engine problems, and the second year I had a real adventure and series of calamities with my own rental engine and boat.   I decided this year would be different.

This past year, my father in law Andy, and I  rented a pontoon boat in the Wolf River and that worked out real well.  I also rented a small fishing boat and for a while we caught a bunch of fish.  However, what put me over the edge to buy my own fishing boat was when the boys and I were fishing and we saw this couple (about my age) pull up in this beautiful 17 foot Starcraft, use his fishfinder to locate a hole or some other type of structure, and then push a button and have his anchor release automatically.  My son, Parker, said to me, "Dad, why can't we have a boat like that?"

That put me over the edge.  I have to admit.  I make a pretty good living and the time and I spend fishing is priceless.  It's just plain wrong for me not to have a fishing boat.  After all, I have my F350 Pickup Truck, and  Ford Trucks hat - so all I need is a fishing boat and I will fit right in at any launching ramp.

So after a few weeks of looking, I got an excellent, 1999 17 foot Crestliner with a 115 Johnson and Hummingbird fish finder - and its worth every penny

Ok, enough about this story - on to the pictures - this will be a work in progress and I will add to them as we go out:
