Batter up !
The first thing we do it to teach the kinds how to hit the ball. I spend a lot of time teaching the right form and technique. Overall, the kids can hit the ball well.

Do you notice how I have my hand on the bat ? That is because a misplaced bat by a four year old (at waist level) can, shall we say, but a real damper on more adult activities :-)
