This is a story about Wibur and his life as a turkey.  At least, his life until he was eaten by the Forsberg family on Thanksgiving Day, 2000.

Here is a picture of Wilbur and several of his friends when they were just a week old.  Wilbur was shipped in a box to a commercial turkey farm in Northern Illinois. Life was so simple then....

Wilbur's Dining Room:

Wilbur ate every day during the spring.  His diet was strictly controlled so he would become delicious and meaty.

In fact, commercial turkey's cannot breed naturally since their breasts are too large.  Fortunately, humans do not have this problems. This leads to a completely different discussion, but I digress...

During the summer Wilbur  spent a lot of time  outside. If you look the back of the picture, there is a small farm house where Wilbur and his friends rested when it got too hot outside.

The owner of the turkey farm has to make sure there is adequate ventilation or turkey's can die from heat exhaustion.  In fact,  a few years ago at a commercial turkey farm in central Illinois, the ventilation system broke down.  The result was the senseless death of  over 1000 turkeys.  It was one of the worst turkey disasters in modern history.
